Prince William Will Participate in COP30 Climate Summit in South America

Prince William will represent the United Nations climate conference in Brazil during November, according to palace sources.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a event leading up to the environmental conference, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.

Father and son were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the UK government.

Climate Leadership Commitment

The King has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil preceding the climate conference.

Official representatives have portrayed William's involvement at the upcoming climate summit as stepping up an important role in "climate diplomacy".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the official car, were greeted guests including environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.

This engagement featured addresses in concert with French leader Macron of France and other international figures at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco earlier this year.

The climate conference will align with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the day before he participates in the COP summit on the sixth of November.

In recent days the William referred to the Earthshot finalists as "modern-day pioneers".

Royal Climate Legacy

King Charles has been a key figure at earlier environmental conferences, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a substantial portion of my life trying to warn of the existential threats facing us over planetary heating, global temperature increases and ecological decline," the sovereign addressed participants.
